A First and lots of adventures!

It has been a crazy month of excitement, adventure and far too many smelly megabus trips, so heres an update on life.

I GOT A FIRST!!

So thats kinda exciting you know.
It's what I've been aiming at but it was still a massive shock and I am so, so fucking proud. Hard work and loving what you do works!

As its the end of uni we've had our DEGREE SHOW (With my posters!) and I'm happy to report that it was a success. Lots of wobbling up step ladders and swearing at double sided tape later and we had a lovely exhibition space full of arrows going off into the wide world.

Each graduate designed arrows in their personal style to represent the different directions they'd be exploding out into the world in. I decided to hone some skills, experiment with colour and have fun!

A lot of hard work but totally worth it so my family could final visit where I spend all my daylight hours.
 ( P.S. I love you Studio <3 )

The Exhibition website can be found HERE!

Then we went on lots of travels in Cumbria and Scotland.
I finally got to visit the cool bit of Hadrian's Wall (from robin hood prince of thieves!), stumble across amazing little villages in the lakes, partake in ritual coursework burning before climbing SCAFELL PIKE. 12 hours later I was on a horrendously smelly megabus home to cornwall (via London and the globe theatre) where I spent the weekend before zipping back up to London (New Blood!) and then to oxford and back again. Mad month!

Here is a taste of my CUMBRIAN ADVENTURES:

Its been a great month all in all. Saying goodbye to my home of three years and greeting the future with arms wide open! (Ahhh gooey feelings :)

So I'm officially finished with my education at the University of Cumbria.
Its been a blast. Really.
Here is the work from my final semester:

Bagatelle Comic book Cover.

So it turns out my comicbook piece for the anthology is going to be printed in black and white... sooo it was suggested that I design a possible cover for the anthology as well using the same style and colours. And here it is. Super cuffed (:

Luckily the comic book colours do convert to black and white well and the contrast means that everything is still visible and identifiable.

Degree show posters.

So I'm stilll working on my seed packaging. The major designs are there I just need to work out how to print the origami, say hello to indesign my new bestie.
The tutors spotted me working on these fellows and then decided to art direct me on another final show poster. So fun and productive but aggh I want to finish this brief now please.

Take note of the little man pooping in pink...my tutors thought he was a blast...yeah.

They also picked one of my one day posters to develop for the show. Unfortunately they didn't like the title 'Umlaut (spelt in umlauts)' or Hergestellt and suggested WUNDERBAR!

Which makes me think or bras and drinking...

One Day Brief. Oh the horror!

Today we had the dreaded one day briefs. Where the tutors set a series of design tasks and then set off a foghorn. The day was mainly for the graphics students but I love one day briefs so yay!

The brief was to design several hypothetical posters for our up and coming final show using only a selected few low grade images and shocking 90's typefaces.

(Warning lots of blue and orange to follow.)

This piece is entitled: 'Jade discovers the Umlaut keys on the mac....Goes nuts.'

We also had to create little invites based on each of the posters:

Hooray fun! Not sure I'll use any for the final show but still.

Home Screen Print Fun!

For Christmas my mum has a habit of getting most of mine and my sisters presents from charity shops and car boot sales and things didn't change this year when I got a battered old screen printing kit fresh from a farmyard car boot for a pound.
And its great! A bit hit and miss but for a first attempt I'm really impressed and excited to do more!

This was a quick design using a stanly knife to cut the screen (a piece of paper) that I made into a birthday card for my mum. See how it works! What goes around and all.
I really like them!

yay!

Donde Esta Santa Claus?

For the past few weeks I've been getting some work together for the monthly Tigerprint competition, its been a wonderful distraction from uni work and the impending doom of a family Christmas.

And a colour one, just to prove colour doesn't terrify me. Honest...

Redesign time!

For the past couple of weeks I've been working on my personal identity as an illustrator, working on my business cards, mailers and website design. I've always thought that I have a very erratic style of illustration, which while exciting ain't all that great for presenting an identity. However after designing my portfolio site and putting everything together I can't help thinking it all looks very...me!

So after several bizzillian hours of adobe muse and bashing my head again the desk I present my new portfolio website. Complete with updated work! (That is all very me!)
